Watertown PD Says 13 Year-Old Boy Dragged by Pickup
October 26, 2026
WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT)–A 13 year-old Watertown boy survivied a scary experience after being dragged 10 to 12 feet underneath a pickup truck.
It happened Friday night at the intersection of Third Avenue Northwest and Kampeska Boulevard.
That’s where the pickup and an electric motorcycle collided.
The boy was traveling eastbound on Third Avenue Northwest when the northbound pickup driven by a 20 year-old Watertown man struck him.
The pickup driver stopped at the stop sign of the intersection, but failed to yield the right-of-way to the motorcycle.
The boy sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries and was transported via ambulance to Sanford Watertown.
During the investigation, officers determined the electric motorcycle had a motor capable of producing at least 1,000 watts of power, exceeding the 750-watt limit South Dakota law sets for e-bikes. Therefore it’s defined as an electric motorcycle.
The pickup driver was cited for underage purchase or possession of alcohol.
Watertown police did not identify the individuals involved in the accident, but they say additional charges may be forthcoming.
