Sanford Health Gives Wellmark Deadline in Contract Talks

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–Sanford Health is giving Wellmark until July 1, 2027, to reach a new contract agreement.

Sanford says months of negotiations have failed to resolve disagreements over contract terms and patient care.

For now, there are no changes to coverage or benefits, and appointments will continue as scheduled.

If no deal is reached, Wellmark members may have to pay more out of pocket or find new in-network providers.

Sanford says the disagreement centers on who controls contract terms and how much the insurer pays for care.
