UPDATE: One Dead in Canton Explosion

CANTON, S.D.–A man has died due to a garage explosion in Canton.

Canton Police say investigators have found no indications of criminal activity.

Early Monday morning, a Canton police officer was responding to an unrelated call when he witnessed and heard a large explosion.

The officer responded to the area immediately and saw a garage completely engulfed in flames, requesting assistance from the Canton Volunteer Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived, they also found two vehicles on fire.

After the fire was extinguished, investigators found an individual who had died.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the explosion.
