Man Killed in Crash West of Carpenter

CARPENTER, S.D. (KWAT)–A man has been killed in a crash between a semi and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on Highway 28 at the Spink-Beadle County line ten miles west of Carpenter.

The crash happened Wednesday night when the ATV was eastbound on the highway’s south shoulder.

At the same time, the driver of a Peterbilt semi was also eastbound in that same area.

The ATV turned left to enter a driveway.

The driver of the semi attempted to stop and locked up up the brakes, but collided with the ATV.

The 44 year-old Hitchcock man driving the ATV was killed.

The semi was driven by an 80 year-old man from Iroquois. He was not injured.
