WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT)–A Clark man faces three felony charges for allegedly arranging to have sex with a 13 year-old girl.
The investigation of 33 year-old Chase Anthony Heer began October 9th when Watertown Middle School Resource Officer Amy Beyl was approached by the girl, who had learned that a person she had been communicating with on Snapchat was an adult.
Through his username, police identified that person as Heer.
They began communicating with him on the social media site.
Heer thought he was chatting with the 13 year-old girl, when in fact Watertown police were on the other end of the line.
Heer allegedly made plans to meet the girl at the Watertown Regional Library.
When he got there, he was met by police who placed him into custody.
A search warrant of Heer and his vehicle turned up two cell phones, a THC vape, and condoms he had just purchased from Walmart.
A Codington County Grand Jury indicted him on the felony charges of Attempted Third Degree Rape, Solicitation of a Minor, and Distribution of Marijuana to a Minor.
Heer’s criminal history includes previous charges of Invasion of Privacy, Possession of Marijuana, Obstruction, and Resisting Arrest.
