WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT)–A Watertown woman faces three felony counts of Theft By Deception for falsely claiming a cancer diagnosis.

A Codington County Grand Jury handed down the indictment against 26 year-old Keirsten Annmarie Anglin, also known as Keirsten Decker.

Court documents indicate Anglin allegedly claimed to have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2024.

Watertown police investigated that claim, but after obtaining her medical records from Sanford Health and Mayo Clinic, found those claims to be false.

After publicly claiming she had cancer, Anglin received HyVee, Walmart and Cenex gift cards from the Codington County Cares Cancer Foundation, along with money from a motorcycle poker run held on her behalf, and cash donations made to her during a motorcycle show in Watertown.

In total, she allegedly received nearly $10,000 in donations through deception.

Anglin’s bond was set at $5,000 cash.

Bond conditions include being a law abiding citizen, signing a waiver of extradition, having no contact with victims, and making all court appearances.
