Menards Coming to Brookings in 2029

October 28, 2026

BROOKINGS, S.D.–The Brookings City Council on Tuesday night approved the sale of land for a new Menards store there.

The vote transfers the city-owned land to the Brookings Regional Growth Alliance, who will work through the process of selling the property to Menards.

The land is located just north of Brookings’ new Target and Aldi stores.

Menards hopes to open its Brookings location by the fourth quarter of 2029.

Menards already has South Dakota stores in Aberdeen, Mitchell, Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls (two locations), Watertown and Yankton.
